A Month to Honor the Struggle We Don’t Always See
Every June, Veterans Mental Health Awareness Month brings urgent attention to the mental health challenges many of our heroes quietly endure.
From PTSD and anxiety to depression and suicidal thoughts, these invisible wounds continue long after the battlefield has gone quiet.
Why This Month Matters:
- 1 in 4 post-9/11 veterans experiences PTSD
- Suicide rates remain highest among veterans aged 18–34
- Many suffer in silence due to stigma, lack of support, or inadequate resources
At Faith and Honor, we are fighting back with faith, honor, and action.
Our work this month includes:
- Soul Circle Gatherings for peer healing and shared strength
- Spiritual Resiliency Coaching rooted in scripture and brotherhood
- Community Outreach to support homeless and at-risk veterans
- Online Resources for mental health, crisis support, and VA guidance
This month is not about awareness alone. It’s about responsibility.

Announcing The Empty Seat Initiative

This Memorial Day Weekend (May 23–27, 2025), while families across the country gather for food, fellowship, and remembrance, one powerful symbol will stand in silent tribute: an empty seat.
Faith and Honor proudly launches The Empty Seat Initiative, a national call to honor those we’ve lost—not just in war, but in the aftermath. In partnership with Sober Soldier, we invite you to take part in a visible act of remembrance for our fallen heroes—especially those lost to substance abuse, suicide, and the invisible wounds of service.
What It Is:
The Empty Seat Initiative asks individuals, families, restaurants, churches, and event organizers to leave one chair intentionally unoccupied during Memorial Day weekend gatherings. This seat serves as a symbolic reminder of the men and women who are no longer with us—not because they fell in battle, but because the war followed them home.
How to Participate:
- Leave one empty seat at your table during Memorial Day weekend (May 23–27).
- Add a candle, photo, name card, or brief note to signify remembrance.
- Post your tribute on social media using #EmptySeatInitiative.
- Invite your local businesses, restaurants, or places of worship to join.
- Create a space of honor at your event for silent reflection.
This initiative is more than symbolism—it’s a statement of solidarity. It says: We see you. We remember you. We carry your story forward.
Together with Sober Soldier, we’re working to ensure these stories are not forgotten. This Memorial Day weekend, let every gathering be an opportunity to recognize those who never made it back to the table.

Boris Schaak – Founder of Sober Soldier | Fitness Coach | Wellness Advocate
With over 36 years of experience as a fitness coach, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others achieve physical, mental, and emotional transformation. My own journey through addiction and into long-term recovery began in 2007. From the very start, health and fitness played a vital role in my healing process—not just as a physical outlet, but as a foundation for rebuilding discipline, strength, and purpose.
That experience fueled a calling: to create a supplement company that empowers individuals in recovery. At Sober Soldier, our mission is to support addiction recovery by addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of healing. We offer targeted supplements, CBD products, and wellness solutions designed specifically for those overcoming addiction and mental health challenges.
